Which Version to Watch?

Streaming Video on the Website

This is the easist way to watch the show.  Each time there's a new show, click on the picture with the arrow to watch the streaming Flash video.  Flash files (flv) are great because they are small and load relatively quickly, but there is some loss of quality compared to the higher-resolution formats available for download.

The streaming videos are always in anaglyphic (red/blue) format.  Many people are familiar with the idea of watching 3D films while wearing funny-looking glasses. Known as anaglyphic 3D, this style of video has many advantages. It can be watched on any TV or computer, and viewing requires little in the way of extra equipment: only a very inexpensive pair of red/blue or red/cyan 3D glasses. Understandably, these features make 3D more widely available.

One disadvantage to anaglyphic 3D is that because viewing is done through colored glasses, less color saturation is perceived in the video. Anaglyphic 3D is still widely appreciated, and the minimal equipment requirements make it ideal for multiple people to view simultaneously, and for simple use by children.

Downloading the Show

Anaglyphic 3D Video

The quality of anaglyphic 3D is the lowest of the 3D formats offered for download, but this format is most widely accessible.  As with the streaming video, this format requires an inexpensive pair of red/blue or red/cyan glasses.  The downloadable version, however, is higher resolution than the streaming video, and therefore higher quality.

Interlaced Video

In interlaced 3D video, the video streams viewed by the left and right eyes are interlaced into one file. There is some loss of quality compared to the Left and Right Views downloaded separately, but this is still pretty nice quality 3D. This format is intended to be viewed using one of the following:

  • A computer with stereoscopic display
  • Stereoscopic player software (such as Stereoscopic Player by Peter Wimmer), shutterglasses, and a video card

Left & Right Views

This is the largest file to download of the 3 options, but it offers the highest 3D quality we can realistically offer, short of the original AVI file. This is a compressed file containing the left and right views of the video, intended to be viewed using one of the following:

  • A computer with stereoscopic display
  • Stereoscopic player software (such as Stereoscopic Player by Peter Wimmer), shutterglasses, and a video card
