These White Pelicans stopped off at the Rock River in Illinois while migrating North for the summer. This species is very social and can usually be spotted in groups near fresh water sources. They hunt for fish in a cooperative manner, to increase their odds of narrowing in on their prey. Their large bills, which are used to scoop up fish as they swim, can hold up to 3 gallons of water.
